WHO Global Report on Psoriasis

In 2014, the (World Health Organisation) WHO recognised psoriasis as a chronic, non-communicable, painful, disfiguring, and disabling disease for which there is no cure.

The resolution underscored that too many people in the world suffer needlessly from psoriasis due to incorrect or delayed diagnosis, inadequate treatment options, insufficient access to care and because of social stigmatisation.

The WHO has published “Global Report on Psoriasis” which discusses the public health impact of psoriasis worldwide. The report reiterates the urgent need to pursue international efforts to raise awareness regarding psoriasis and to fight stigmatisation suffered by those with the condition.

The WHO report makes it clear the governments and policy makers must take actions to help people control their psoriasis and prevention of its complications. Furthermore, scientists, health professional and the associations uniting them have an important role to play in improving the quality of life of people suffering from psoriasis.
