The Irish Skin Foundation (ISF) would like to extend a big thank you to Bernie and Peter Rice with the help of the Parent’s Association of Scoil Riada, Kilcock, Co Kildare for their generous donation to the ISF. The ISF will ensure both donations are used to support the Protect & Inspect skin cancer awareness campaign.
The Rice family set up the Sharon Rice O’Beirne Melanoma Trust in memory of their daughter Sharon, who on the 2nd of February 2008 lost her brave battle against melanoma skin cancer. Ten years on and the Melanoma Trust awareness campaign continues to raise the public’s awareness of early detection and the importance of checking your skin for changes.
The ISF would like to sincerely thank Bernie and Peter Rice along with the Parent’s Association of Scoil Riada, Kilcock for their wonderful donation to support the ISF’s Protect & Inspect campaign.
The campaign aims to prevent skin cancer by raising awareness of the dangers of natural and artificial UV radiation, highlighting the risks of developing melanoma skin cancer and by providing up-to-date dermatology-based skin cancer information to hospitals in Ireland.
Remember, if you are concerned about a change or growth on your skin, you should always see your GP first and a consultant dermatologist if a referral is required.
We want everyone in Ireland to learn to Protect & Inspect their skin! Download our short guide, written with hospital-based dermatologists, to checking your skin.
