New ISF website goes live with refreshed design and improved navigation

After months of work, we are delighted to announce the launch of our new website!

With our phones always within reach, there is now an overwhelming preference and expectation for information at the touch of a screen. People are digital savvy and have high standards when it comes to accessibility and reliability. It is hugely important to make sure we are meeting this demand and keeping engaged and connected with those who rely on our resources.

At the ISF, we felt it was important that our digital presence was enhanced to create a more valuable and user-friendly experience.

Our new website offers a clean and updated design, improved navigation, and functionality for anyone looking for information and support for their skin condition.

“We’ve been talking about the internet for 25 or 30 years now, but the last two years have had a greater leap forward in terms of how comfortable and experienced people of all ages are as users of technology.

“With high consumption levels of digital-first information come high standards. We have thought carefully about the best way to provide accurate, trusted, and relevant information in a manner that supports finding, navigating and absorbing ISF information” Jill Clarke, ISF Communications & Event Manager.

Information and support

ISF information is available in hard copy in hospitals and many GPs throughout Ireland, but our most important pathway to communicate is through our website.

For major common skin conditions like psoriasis, eczema, and HS, we have organised our content into general overview ‘evergreen’ content (e.g., www.irishskin.ie/psoriasis/) and more detailed content can be found in our booklets.  We regularly review this information with patients and healthcare professionals to keep them up to date.

Helpline / Ask-a-Nurse

Where we haven’t covered a particular subject or to support people with specific concerns or queries, or about less common conditions, we have our Ask-a-Nurse helpline which provides individualized guidance. The quick and simple form allows visitors to send us a question about a skin condition and seek one-to-one guidance from a specialist dermatology nurse.

 Increase in digital engagement

The pandemic has had the effect of speeding up trends towards greater digital engagement.  Over the past two years we have seen a huge increase in visits to our website and more searches for reliable information about skin conditions and advice about management.

Generally, people have become even more comfortable searching for healthcare information online, but in recent years we have become more careful to distinguish between trustworthy and unreliable information.  Most of all we want people to be able to use and share our information with anyone who can benefit.

Visitors to the new site can stay informed about the latest news, announcements, and up-to-date information through our news section and resources. The simple drop-down menu of skin conditions allows visitors to easily find what they are looking for.

Our new website is fully responsive with mobile devices, making it easy to navigate on a wide range of web browsers and devices whether you´re at your desk or on the move.

Thank you to the team and to the designers at Spaceship for all their hard work and dedication over the last year. We hope you enjoy our new look!  For any comments or questions, please contact us at info@irishskin.ie
