ISF Gives Talk on ‘Skin Health’ at An Cosán

On Thursday the 28 March the ISF Health Promotion Team were delighted to give a general talk on ‘Skin Health and Common Skin Conditions’ to the lovely ladies of the University of the Third Age in An Cosán in Tallaght.

Beginning as The Shanty in September 1986, co-founders Dr Ann Louise Gilligan and Dr Katherine Zappone established a community-based project as a platform for active citizenship and transformational education. Since September 1999, An Cosán has been located in Jobstown, at the base of the Dublin mountains, nestled in a three story building which houses classrooms, a library, Open Learning Centre, Rainbow House early years’ service, and counselling.

An Cosán’s mission is:

“To empower through education, by providing people of all ages with pathways to learning, leadership and enterprise.”

An Cosán offers a variety of education programmes including early years’ education and care, wellness, parenting, community development, leadership, addiction studies and social enterprise. Their accredited programmes offers progression paths towards Certificate, Higher Certificate and BA Degree awards and all their higher education programmes are accredited through IT Carlow.

A special thank you to Imelda Hanratty, Outreach Officer at An Cosán, who gave us a very warm welcome and introduced us to the fabulous group of ladies of the University of the Third Age.
