The HSE’s NCCP in collaboration with Healthy Ireland have launched of the Get SunSmart! Children’s Art Competition for its third year. The competition is open to all pre-school and primary school children and depending on their age category, to complete the SunSmart colouring sheets or draw their own picture showing how to be SunSmart.
The competition runs until 5pm on 31 May, 2024.

Categories
There are four age categories with a prize for the winner in each category. The three age categories are:
- Pre-schools
- Junior Infants to First Class,
- Second Class to Fourth Class
- Fifth and Sixth Class
The competition is designed to help educate young people about the importance of protecting your skin while enjoying time outdoors.
Children and young people are particularly vulnerable to the damaging effects of the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays.
What you can win
The winners of each category will receive:
An OPW Family Heritage Card. Step into the story with a Family Heritage Card. Enjoy FREE admission for 12 months for 2 Adults and 3 Children into all fee-paying OPW managed sites. Visit Heritage Ireland for more information.
A family day pass for Dublin Zoo for 2 adults and up to 4 children.
AND
A National Book Token worth €20
There will also be 10 lucky runner-up prizes in each of the four category who will receive a Healthy Ireland SunSmart goodie bag.
How to enter
The competition is open to all pre school and primary school children. There are 4 categories
Category 1: Preschool – Download and print and colour in the Healthy Ireland SunSmart 5S’s images from the link below.
Category 2: Junior Infants to First Class – Download and print and colour in the Healthy Ireland SunSmart 5S’s images from the link below.
Category 3: Second Class to Fourth Class – Draw a picture of how to be SunSmart using the Healthy Ireland SunSmart 5S’s. You can draw your picture on a piece of plain white paper using crayons, pencils, pens, colouring pencils, markers or paint.
Category 4: Fifth and Sixth Class – Draw a picture of how to be SunSmart using the Healthy Ireland SunSmart 5S’s. You can draw your picture on a piece of plain white paper using crayons, pencils, pens, colouring pencils, markers or paint.
